In To Ink Printing was established in 1986 by Larry and Theresa Pyle, with the sole intention of providing quality printing to the market. As the company grew it was obvious that Larry and Theresa found a very strong creative connection with the Graphic Arts community. Printing a job became more about being involved in the creation of an Idea than just about running another piece of paper through a press. A reputation began from this attitude that In To Ink would go the distance to print complicated jobs in sometimes unheard of ways. Have you ever known a printing company that would be willing to use cornstarch and glue under the blanket of an offset press to accomplish the unique look and feel of tarnished copper on a printed sheet? In To Ink and its staff have a history of doing these kinds of projects to connect with their own creative side. In To Ink has a tradition of partnering with the creative community to accomplish goals as a team and share in the victory of creating art. This is not to say that In To Ink is by any way a printing company unaccustomed to working with organizations with printing needs outside of the Graphic Arts community. In To Ink welcomes the opportunity to assist with any project or print need from experienced corporate print buyers to individuals new to the print buying market. In To Ink will help you to manage your print needs from start to finish every time, on time, with the same eye and flare we give to our most demanding clients. Every project is custom created with its purpose and uniqueness in mind. In 2004 In To Ink decided to embark on a new-to-us but old-to-printing process. With In To Ink’s passion for creative printing, Letterpress was a natural fit. Larry Pyle, Co-owner, is the primary pressman in the letterpress department and is dedicated to creating a unique visual experience on every job we produce. Press checks are commonplace in this environment and encouraged. This gives us the opportunity to fine tune the look of the piece to your expectations as well as giving you, the client, a unique opportunity to be further involved in your creative process from concept to finished art. Please feel free to contact In To Ink with any questions or to set up an appointment on-or-off site so we may demonstrate our keen abilities. We offer full service commercial offset and letterpress, courteous concerned staff, competitive pricing, delivery, and the ability to work with the same Account Executive on each project. You will find your relationship with In To Ink mutually rewarding and an experience in printing like no other.

LETTERPRESS
Maybe the old adage “What is old is new again” best describes In To Ink’s thoughts on letterpress. Letterpress has a look and a mystique that is not able to be replicated on an offset press. There is texture and dimensional feel to many letterpress projects. There is also the opportunity for the project to be more of a hands-on crafted piece. We strongly encourage any of our clients utilizing our letterpress department to be press side during the creation of their project. This allows a fine tuning to your desired look. Many advances have occurred since Gutenberg’s first letterpress. We no longer have to set type in a chase. Dies can be custom made from your files just like plates for an offset press. There are some design challenges that must be considered when choosing letterpress because of its dimensional feel. However, the limitations are minimal, considering the abilities the process offers to anyone looking for a truly unique and custom finished piece. At In To Ink, the passion we deliver through our letterpress work is our proudest achievement. This is the heritage of lithography and a historic process that literally made the mass distribution of literature possible. We at In To Ink take great pride in the contributions our industry has made to the betterment of humanity and the building of our culture.
The card’s a huge hit. Thanks so much for the hard work. Don Mirra

OFFSET
In To Ink Printing has over 20 years of experience providing quality offset sheet fed printing specializing in business card, letterhead and envelope stationery packages. We also produce a wide variety of other related print media to include presentation folders (press kits), brochures and posters. In To Ink has a reputation in the offset business as being one to help not only experienced print buyers but also to take the time to help others who may not have had the experience of navigating through the perils of commercial printing. Many of our most loyal clients have come from those who needed assistance taking on a project for the first time that required print media. As a side note we have found that many people know what offset printing is but are unsure why it’s called offset. The answer to this question is at the point in an offset printing press that the image is transferred from the plate, which is made from a negative, to the blanket, a rubber matt type material, and finally to the sheet or paper. The cylinder system transferring the image from positive to negative to positive on the sheet or “offsetting” the image is why the term “offset” printing is used. Offset printing was the industry revolution that shifted the industry away from letterpress. Offset is faster in set-up and in press speed. As you will find out however, In To Ink is taking great pride in revitalizing letterpress printing.

5 STAR 6/1/2015 Overall Extra! Extra! Read all about it! This place rocks! I work as a Director of Operations for a small sports entertainment company here in San Diego and my President wanted to make a custom business card with embossing on it. We reached out to some of our existing printing contacts and quickly learned how difficult and expensive this job was going to be. After being turned down because no one had the capability to handle our special request, we came across In to Ink on Yelp. The reviews were great so we reached out to them to see what they were about. The owner of the business, Larry, immediately took the reins and felt he could handle the job. After a meeting with Larry at his printing office, we felt confident in his ability and gave him the job. Larry and his team nailed it! I can't stress this enough. They are not only a 5 out of 5 star business, but these are the brightest 5 out of 5 stars one can achieve. That's the bottom line, but if you need further convincing, I break it down further: Customer Service As I mentioned, once I contacted In to Ink, the owner, Larry, got back to me personally. He worked closely with us in a very customer friendly manner. He never used industry terms that we didn't know and made sure we understood everything involved before moving forward. Even though we were just making a business card, our project was quite complicated with many steps. Larry and his team were really patient and had outstanding communication throughout the whole production. They really care about your order like it's their own. Price The business card we wanted has a gloss varnish and a custom embossed logo on it. We knew the card was going to be expensive given its customized nature. Despite this, In to Ink gave us a very reasonable quote with no hidden costs or surprises. They asked for half as a deposit to cover materials which in my experience are a standard and reasonable request. Expertise/Knowledge Larry and his team know their stuff. Larry gave us excellent insight into what paper stock to use and how much varnish to use. Although they didn't do the emboss in house, he had a partner with his own business specializing in that service who contributed to the production. Also, before any printing could be done, I needed to supply the digital artwork. I worked closely with In to Ink's digital prepress department on creating the necessary files. They were able to guide me through what needed to be done. Quality of Work/Product The finished product was a masterpiece. Larry even threw in some gold edge painting for the cards at no extra cost. Everything was perfect. The printing, the cut, the emboss, and the gloss varnish were absolutely flawless. No detail was missed. I urge you to consider them for any printing needs you require. David B. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 5 STAR 5/19/2015 Stop the presses! Stop the presses! If one sincerely wants the very best there is in the industry for business cards, special invitations or even general printing needs, San Diego is truly lucky to have In To Ink. Simply put, owner Larry Pyle, his staff and the associates he assembles for a project are the the gold standard, the creme de la creme of print craftsmanship. And remarkably still, the cost is respectfully fair. My company had the pleasure of the In To Ink experience for some high grade business cards which called for rare embossing and intricate printing. With Larry's expert advice, guidance and counsel, the result was a sterling piece, breathtaking work and in fact, Michelangelo worthy! It was the WOW effect, personified. The flood of positive reviews here is not a fluke. These people---all of them long term professionals---take a deep pride in their careful efforts, suggesting varnishes, the quality of paper stock and other important tips to reach the customer's vision. Trust this man, Larry Pyle. He knows the ropes beyond belief and even brought in a highly skilled embossing artist, Nik, for stunning detail. Together, everyone collaborated in a work that is the ultimate for a calling card. Superlatives are in order for this company. In To Ink out performs! Theodore B. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 5 STAR 6/7/2013 This review is loooong overdue. I've been working with In to Ink for a few years now, and I've never come across a more personable, professional, or passionate print shop. The quality of their work is phenomenal, and their expertise and flexibility are unsurpassed. As a designer, one of the things I repeatedly stress to clients is that the print job is just as important as the design. A logo can look awesome on a computer screen, but what good is it if it disappoints on paper? The kind of trust and confidence I have with In to Ink is invaluable, and I'm incredibly grateful for having found them. Not only do they actually REVIEW my files, they let me press check in person to make sure everything is as perfect as possible. In fact, I've come to love press checks because they take the time to educate me about the various processes. Working with their team has no doubt made me a better designer, and I can't stress enough how much I appreciate them! Nikki M. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 5 STAR 7/4/2014 I had great experience working with In to Ink! As a designer, this was my first time printing letterpress and Larry was so kind enough to keep me in the loop throughout the entire process. He made everything so easy and stress-free and the final product was perfect :) :) In to Ink's overall quality and service is outstanding and I'd highly recommend them to anyone! Stacy H. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 5 STAR 11/1/2009 In to Ink Printing has done several projects for our company over the years... all produced with timeliness, quality and with such great personal service. 5 STAR 5/7/2010 I would compare finding a good printer to that of finding a good wife or girlfriend. Lots of trial and error, but when you find that special someone, you just know. Well, In To Ink is that special someone for us. Not only do they do fantastic work, but they do it within budget and on-time.... plus they are a blast to work with. We use In To Ink for ALL of our projects, including our own personal business cards. Which happen to be the most complex and amazing card in existence today. I even bought a special case for them, just to ensure they get proper treatment and love. If you want to make a strong impact with potential clients, use In To Ink. you would not regret it. Brian B. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 5 STAR 9/2/2010  Words cannot express the things this printer can do. By far they are the most creative, detail oriented, and best printer in town to work with. They really pay attention to you, your work and help to make your designs a reality, beyond words. The things they are capable of doing at this shop would blow anyones mind, let alone a jaded designer like me. Their letterpress machine really gives design new dimension. After doing a letterpress job with them, you become addicted and wish all clients would go this route...but it's okay that only a few choose to go this route as it makes any work done on letterpress stand out and shine from the rest. People REALLY respond to letterpress. There is something special and invigorating about being able to hold, rub you fingers over the texture of the letterpressed paper...it's tactile and different from all the muck that is out there. It's also a breath of fresh air in this digitized email/text message society. What they do at In To Ink is throw back to times when things were made well, made with care and experience. Real craftsmanship. Letterpress is definitely a lost art, but not at In To Ink, it is alive and well...Thank goodness!!! Your mind is your limit, in regards to printed design...If you think it, they can do it...and that is super refreshing, especially for someone like me that dreams up things I wonder can ever be produced...In To Ink hits the target I have in my minds eye, EVERY time. Purplemoon R. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 5 STAR 5/13/2010 In To Ink not only amazed with their knowledge of letterpress and printing but they were the most competent and professional group of artisanal craftspeople I have had the pleasure to work with. I do marketing communications and public relations for a luxury real estate firm and I commissioned In To Ink to do the custom embossing and letter press for our business cards. Let me tell you, the response we have garnered from the quality and style has been unbelievable. My associates and I get compliments almost each and every time we present out business cards. I will not only use In To Ink for every large scale printing and presentation initiative from now on, but I have also recommended their services to many other professionals (not in the real estate business, the secrets all ours). There hands-on work ethic and patience was exactly what I needed to make sure our business cards came out just as I needed. They were able to provide different comps and styles for us to choose our favorite and they simply provided the most top-notch service one could expect. All in all, In To Ink is a professional organization that takes pride in the work they do and the products they provide to their clients. Keep up the good work! PJ R. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 5 STAR 9/22/2010 I own a small stationery studio and would not go anywhere else for my letterpress needs than In to Ink.  Their pricing is fair and customer service perfect.  But what really sets In to Ink apart from other printers, particularly in the letterpress arena, is its owner Larry that is simply put -- an artist.  He mixes the inks on site (very rare) and he will happily let you hover during a press check to make sure everything is perfect.  They also "retain the right" to make further improvements after you leave the press check which is absolutely unheard of and after receiving the final product, I can say they live up to that promise.  Bravo In to Ink! Jennifer D. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 5 STAR 5/7/2010 WOW! We were recently privileged enough to start working with In to Ink on a variety of projects, including our business cards. Theresa and Larry are some of the nicest, most genuine professionals I have had the privilege to work with, and I mean that literally. Larry Pyle is probably one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met in the print world. With so many options using Letterpress, we had a tough time deciding on the final for our cards. Everyone was very patient while we whittled down the options (and gave great input and even a crash course in the vast world of Letterpress) and we were still provided with some final solutions we never even considered. I can't tell you how blown away we were when we opened the "variety pack"!!! The overs were insane, thank you so much for the trimmings, AWESOME!!! Kevin R. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 5 STAR 12/29/2009 Excellent service and absolute top-quality printing. We did all of our printed materials with In to Ink, and the feedback has been incredible. Quality and craftsmanship all the way! Thanks to everyone at In to Ink! James B.

5 STAR 2/9/2010 I shopped all of San Diego for a printer who could *even do* my very specialized business card: 24pt paper, a deep heated emboss, multi-strike 2-color, 2 sided, with a special varnish, rounded corner cut. Only one company came up with the willingness: In To Ink. All of the others wanted to do a glue-lamination of thinner sheets because their printers wouldn't handle thick paper, and I wasn't with that. I won't lie, this shop is busy and a tad messy looking from the outside. In my case I had to endure a delay or two. However, I was invited for a very nice careful press-check with Larry who personally handled my production and asked and advised on all sorts of details that made this outcome really quite superior. If you are a picky, critical artist or just a person who like things "just so" like I do, I recommend this one most highly for attention to detail. They take their time to get it perfect and their price was almost exactly the same as elsewhere. Very pleased. Tamara G. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 5 STAR 7/30/2012 Incredible customer service. Amazing quality. Greg, Larry and the In to Ink team were very helpful, professional and generous with their services - a real pleasure to work with. Recently we used In to Ink for letterpress wedding invitations and they definitely exceeded our expectations - the paper stock they recommended was spot on, the time they spent perfecting the colors was impressive and the speed with which they responded to our various questions and requests was unprecedented. We are thrilled to have a printer for all our letterpress needs! Cheers from the Design Intensified team! Design I. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• 5 STAR 2/25/2012 Simply put In To Ink is the best of the best!! I originally went to In To Ink to get my line of greeting cards letterpress printed. It is so scary to take that step, but honestly it changed my world and I couldn't be happier with the amazing quality of printing and just my whole experience! The impecable quality combined with the professional and personal atmosphere there made my experience the best I could have asked for. Because the great outcome of my first printing project, I have been back a couple of times for others and I keep finding trying to come up with other projects to bring them just because...they are just that good. Overall, definitely 5 plus stars!! The ease of working with them, the incredible attention to detail and quality, the quick turn around and extremely fair pricing along with their knowledge, experience and friendly team make them the absolute best! They met with me for over an hour, showing me every possible stock, color, and letterpress option... and this was before I had even decided to use their services. As the press plates were being designed, Theresa and Larry were in constant contact, answering my phone calls and emails with the hour, and reassuring me that everything was going smoothly. At press check, I met with Larry for 4+ hours, tweaking every nuance of the card from color, to register depth, to special dusting effects... all the while getting a lesson on the history of letterpress. Oh, did I mention that they produced these cards in under a week, over a holiday weekend? The final result is great, the customer service was top notch, and I am happy to say that I will be contacting them first for all of my future high-end work. They've done printing for me for over 15 years and I'm always impressed at the level of quality they do. Each project I've ever printed with them was perfect in it's execution. The Letterpress work they do is really amazing. Theresa and Larry are great to work with. They care about their reputation and sweat the details. I trust them implicitly with any printing challenge I may have. Rebecca N.San Diego, CA ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• I have loved working with In to Ink. Their customer service is top notch, and the end product is second to none. Because of the high end printing services and the other unique and custom services they offer (i.e. edge painting of invitations) - the scope of what I have been able to offer my customers has widened, thus, growing my business in ways I had not considered. The team of In to Ink is incredible, and I cannot say enough positive things about my experience working with each one of them. Elizabeth SeatonPosh Paperie ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• After over 15 years of knowing and working with the crew at In to Ink, I am convinced they can do anything. And they love challenges. The ideas just flow. Whenever I have a project that needs a fresh approach, special handling, or knock-their-socks off impact, I call them.  And no matter when or who I call, they all are familiar with my job and know its status. The Golden Door recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary and I knew the In To Ink folks were the only ones who could produce the kind of quality our Save the Date cards and Celebration Invitations demanded. Theresa offered invaluable ideas to help us stay within our budget and the result was stunning!  C. J. GrenadierGolden Door

Brook PaquetteLBFD ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Dear Larry, Theresa, Bernard, and the rest of the In To Ink team, We just received the invitations today, and they look amazing! They are perfect, and even more beautiful than we had imagined. Thanks for sending the plates too. We were not expecting to get those, so it was a very pleasant surprise! Theresa - thanks for all of your help in getting this project going. You were always quick to respond to my questions, and it was a pleasure working with you. Bernard - thanks for your help in working with me on the files. I had some problems initially, but you were always patient as we worked through it. Larry - thanks for doing such an awesome job with the colors. Somehow you were able to get a sense of what we had in mind, and it turned out to be everything we had hoped for. My only regret is that I was not able to be there to watch it press in person. Thanks so much again, and if we ever know of anyone in need of letterpress, we will definitely refer them to In To Ink! Regards, VietViet Tran ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Hi Theresa! Thanks again for taking care of us with our business cards. We are MORE than pleased with them. Talk with you soon! Have a good weekend, Joy ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• This review is loooong overdue. Nikki M.Austin, TX ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Dedicated & passionate, true artisans. Working alongside In To Ink was a fun, smooth, and stress-free experience. We recently used them to produce our agency business cards, and the outcome was spot-on. From Greg's stellar customer service and Larry's talented craftsmanship, I truly enjoyed working with them- and seeing smiles on the faces of my fellow employees after viewing the finished product. They are just down right pleasant people. I can't wait to book another job through them.  Summer J.San Diego, CA ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• The cards are a huge hit. Thanks so much on the hard work.  Don Mirra ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• In To Ink is the only printer I use for my business, for letterpress and combination printing. When dealing with special corporate events and weddings, there is no room for error. With In To Ink, I know I will get the amazing quality and classic letterpress look and never miss my deadlines.  Melissa WicklundWM Designs

"It's fabulous! Thanks a bunch".
Schwartz Graphic Design is noted for their integrated approach to a project. We were delighted to participate and contribute the deep impression letterpress for the invitation, a more subtle approach to the label and helping them coordinate the blind deboss and foil applications.

Designed by DaCapo for their own identity. The paper is Cranes Letra and uses a deep impression letterpress style to maximum benefit.  By flattening the round logo, it puckers out, forming a curved medallion effect like an emboss within a deboss. The back side was printed using a skip feed process and was glue mounted to the front.  The random curves were printed with opaque white with a drying agent to control the degree that its ambers in order to produce a tone on tone effect.
The identity package for Pangea Foundation is a nice example of less depth of impression and more added color. As customary, all inks were mixed to client specifications and printed to retain the integrety of the typeface.
Bennett Peji and Clarissa Vendemiatti Zorr designed this letterpress printed commemorative book for the grand re-opening of the US Grant Hotel. It was but one piece in a box set to celebrate the history of this venerable site. A more traditional approach to letterpress was employed using the grid system where the type backs up the type on the reverse side, eliminating excess impression and only allowing an elegant pressing of the headlines. All of the bookbinding and offset tip-ons were coordinated by In To Ink.
Renowned fine artist and graphic designer, Lisa Schirmer, needed an unique approach for her niece’s wedding package. Here is an example of deep impression letterpress with an old school technique called bronzing. The iridescent effect is achieved by allowing a mineral-based powder to adhere to wet ink as it comes off the press, then diecut in order to fold over to precise symmetry.
